Why Does Nano Technology Matter in my Skin Care?

Nano technology may or may not be something you have heard of before. We definitely talk about it a lot. If you don’t know what it means, it’s really easy to tune out. But we want to talk about why it is SO important in your skin care!

Science- if it’s not your strong suit, don’t worry (it’s not mine either). We’re going to break it down as simply as possible, because that’s how it was explained to me!

When we think of skin care, we think of creams, serums, oils, etc., which all have something in common; They are all applied to the outside of the skin and must absorb in order to be effective. When we read the outside of our skin care bottle, we may get the impression that our skin is a hungry sponge, ready to soak up every molecule of beneficial ingredients. But that’s not entirely the case.

Our skin is built in a series of layers, each layer with a specific purpose. The outermost layer (epidermis) has the job of protecting the other layers. When we consider what we walk through and touch all day, it’s no wonder that outer layer is there to block things from coming in. Scientists know this, which is why many of our skin care product are designed to maneuver the first layer of skin. But no matter the method of getting through to the under layers of skin, the size of the molecules will remain the same size, and that in itself decreases absorption rate.

PrimaSkin uses nano sizing, breaking down the molecules into tiny particles, making it easier for them to navigate deeper into your skin, increasing the benefits of the same amount of product!

To put it into perspective, follow along with me in this example. For a visual reference, imagine the distance between LA and NYC were 1 meter. A nano meter would be smaller than the size of a smart car.

I know. It’s hard to imagine.

But hey, we tried. A nano sized particle is REALLY small, and that’s why it is better at penetrating that first layer of skin! That is also why our product does not need to be rubbed, dabbed, or smeared on. It is a fine mist, reducing the chance of bacteria from your hand getting onto your skin while applying product. Just 2 mists and you’re good to go!

Doesn’t nano sized ingredients make so much sense?

Stay lovely,
